The holiday season is upon us, and with it comes the familiar chorus of Christians reminding the world that Jesus was not born on December 25. While the factual accuracy of that statement is important, what concerns me is how some Christians handle this time of year. Instead of seizing the opportunity to point people to Jesus, they seem to wield the occasion like a club, ensuring anyone not already in the pews feels guilty, unwelcome, or outright terrible about the whole idea of Jesus’ birth.
If we’re supposed to be the light of the world, why are we so often the first to blow out the candle when others might actually notice it?
God bless,
