The Land Promise, the Kingdom, and the Collapse of Dispensational Premillennialism


An Examination of Joshua’s Parallelism, the Fulfillment of God’s Promises, and the Logical Demise of Modern Millennial Theories


Introduction

The foundation of dispensational premillennialism rests upon two main propositions: the proposition that God owes Israel additional land under an unfulfilled promise, and the claim that Jesus will establish an earthly kingdom in Jerusalem, reigning on the throne of David. Each of these pillars is foundational to the entire doctrinal system. A careful study of scripture exposes both the land claim and the kingdom claim as unfounded by examining three lines of evidence: the historical fulfillment of the land promise in Joshua, the prophetic and apostolic testimony concerning the kingdom’s establishment, and the genealogical and prophetic evidence concerning the throne of David. When all three are considered together, they present an insurmountable barrier to dispensational premillennialism.
