If Ephesians can be called the epistle portraying the "church of Christ," then Colossians must surely be described as the epistle of "the Christ of the church." While Ephesians focuses on the body of Christ—the church—Colossians centers on the head of that body, Jesus Christ. The overarching theme of Colossians is the preeminence of Christ, a message that is as vital today as it was when Paul first penned it.
