In a world ever so vibrant with distractions, the devil finds fertile ground to creep in, almost unnoticed. From the desensitization of our church environments to a diminished focus on the spiritual nurturing of our young, we are slowly, yet progressively, diverging from the biblical pathway. As we navigate these choppy waters, it is paramount to remain grounded in the teachings of scripture, lest we let Satan slip into our homes and lead astray the innocent ones, our children.
The Devil Creeps in
As believers, we are cautioned to be vigilant, “because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8). Tragically, our vigilance has been replaced by a fervent pursuit of worldly appearances and self-promotion. The devil seizes this opportunity, creeping into our churches and our homes.
Losing Focus on God’s Word
Churches have increasingly become more focused on the aesthetics, on the trendiness, striving to be one up against each other. The quest to have the catchiest worship songs, the most engaging setup is overshadowing the true essence of worship, which is to honor God in spirit and truth (John 4:24).
The Detrimental Shift Towards Worldliness
We are cautioned in Romans 12:2 not to conform to the patterns of this world but to be transformed by the renewal of our minds. Yet, many find themselves ensnared by the flashy lights of modernity, gravitating towards worldliness, and drifting away from God’s ordinances. This shift in focus is giving ground for the devil to creep in, preying on the vulnerability of our young ones.
The Urgency to Disciple our Children and the Lost
The Bible impresses upon us the crucial role of discipling our children, as seen in Proverbs 22:6, which encourages us to train up a child in the way he should go. This divine mandate has never been more urgent. Our children are at risk, as the devil seeks to fill the void left by our preoccupations with worldly endeavors.
A Call to Unity and Vigilance
The time is ripe for us to cast aside our differences, to come together in unity as the body of Christ. To “put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes” (Ephesians 6:11). We are called to forsake the flesh, to shun divisive doctrines, and to immerse ourselves in God’s word, cultivating a fertile ground for spiritual growth and shielding our families from the snares of the devil.
Conclusion
Church, it is time to wake up. To realign our focus, shifting from worldly preoccupations to nurturing a generation grounded in Christ. The devil does not rest; he is always lurking, seeking opportunities to devour. Let us be steadfast in our faith, guided by love and a spirit of unity as we stand guard over our homes and our children.
Let us heed the warning before it becomes too late, for when the devil no longer has to creep, the task to eject him becomes exponentially harder. Let us rally together in the spirit of Christ, to protect, to nurture, and to guide our young ones in the path of righteousness, shielding them from the ever-creeping devil. Let the church awaken to its calling, fostering a sanctuary of love, unity, and grounded in the immutable truth of God’s word.
